Yoshiko Romppel

Yoshiko Romppel is a certified dance therapist and artist. Her first artistic memory was dancing at a kindergarten event in Japan, but she never felt comfortable with the stage, so she could not imagine singing or dancing professionally. After an education and years of practice as a nurse and a quality manager in a nursing home she was happy to discover dance therapy and completed a five-year study of the subject at the Frankfurt Institute for Dance Therapy. Based on depth psychology, systemic and humanist concepts, her education integrates a variety of theoretical approaches like Authentic Movement, clinical methods, developmental psychology, movement analysis according to Laban and aspects of trauma therapy. Yoshiko is certified by the renowned German Dance Therapy Association (BTD). She feels that working as a dance therapist perfectly goes along with her life as an artist. Besides dance, she works with clay in her ceramic studio, and loves making music. Her passion for languages, nonverbal communication and intercultural exchange has led her to work with refugees in therapeutic and artistic settings, both in and beyond her Baptist church in Mainz.
